There are a lot of pointless parenting products out there. Similar to the manipulative and conniving wedding industry, a lot (read: all) of baby product manufacturing corporations take advantage of newly expecting parents and make over-priced products that you really don’t need.
The NoseFrida is definitely not one of those.
In years past, parents have used THE BULB to pull snot and boogers from their little one’s stuffy noses. You know, like a turkey baster you use in reverse. Presently, we have since evolved to using the NoseFrida. Invented by a Swedish doctor, the NoseFrida is a tube with a tapered cylindrical reservoir at one end, and a little mouth piece at the other. The reservoir is placed up to the baby’s nostril, one at a time, and snot and boogers are sucked the hell out by a loving caregiver from the other end.
This process may sound a tad on the gross side for some, but it’s one of the most rewarding and satisfying day-to-day parenting procedures there is. From early on in a little one’s life, their noses will become congested and they don’t yet know how to eradicate this respiratory obstacle on their own. This problem is then most often confronted by a lot of crying and being generally upset. As a parent, it’s natural to want your child to be as comfortable (and quiet) as possible. A lot of things previously thought of as “icky” are let go of and become standard procedure. Using your mouth to suck the snot from your little one is one of those.
This blog post was not a paid advertisement, my wife and I just think it’s a great enough product to educate others about it.
